A WOMAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART

The world’s perfection of beauty is not real. It does not exist and will happen merely until the twelfth of never. In a realm this day where beauty becomes a subject of competition and comparison, it scares the abyss out of me because being a woman, beautiful appearance matters but sometimes – too much. Vanity is crucial but sometimes – it devours.

Remembering last year when my heart grieved and a blaze of skepticism, uhhh… insecurity burnt my spirit. I was in full tiredness from office works and as I entered the train I stood close to a guy sitting, thinking that if he can at least offer some kindness. I held my desire to take the weight off my feet until the next two stations. Suddenly a lady on her red thick lipstick approached, this guy quickly rose up and let her sat. So I whispered myself, “May be I should thicken my red lipstick too?” Self-assurance, if you know what I mean ladies. You see being beautiful in appearance has a lot of things to take.

Letting things off when I started as a believer, I fully understood how physical beauty deceived the way of my thinking and a trickery which duped my value because of what the world dictates a beauty should be. I praise God for He unveiled my real identity in Him. Charm is passing. It can lure, but it cannot last. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 4:18 that we should focus on the things that cannot be seen, that are internal and that are eternal.

At all heights and depths let us quick to redefine the idea of beauty being the most delicate daughter of the King. By the way, when asked to tell something about me I simply smile and say, “I am a daughter of the King.”

Being now a Christian, here are the things I learned most recently and I wish to share.

Principled Woman

Living in principles doesn’t mean breathing intelligence. It means a principled woman doesn’t have to toe the line with the women of the world. While she is hidden under God’s own shadow, some women feel the need to be seen so they are vulgar, aggressive and proud. Having principle demeanors herself after God’s own wisdom, avoids decisions that ground in embarrassment and regret.

With all the jazz, a woman with a principle holds grip to what she really want to have – ambitions, dreams, and strength of character to succeed. She never stops learning and never ceases to triumph over her devotions.

Confident Woman

A confident woman doesn’t desperately crave a man’s attention because she knows her worth. Instead, she tries to inspire them. I once heard Pastor Joseph Prince telling this, “The misery of a lonely heart is not the absence of someone” and I believed so. When we crave for men’s attention, our motives get warped by starting to perceive other women as competition instead of friendship, men as our remedy for aloneness instead of a relationship.

Having confidence likewise means we glory and pride ourselves in Jesus Christ, and put no confidence or dependence (on what we are) in the flesh and on outward privileges and physical advantages and external appearance. – Philippians 3:3. And this is what I learned lately, having a Christ-confidence, (Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Him who gives me strength) and not purely self-confidence. With this, we are similarly clothing ourselves with humility that without Him we are just one zilch.

Gentle and Quiet in Spirit

1 Peter 3:3-4 says adornment must not be external – braiding of the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.

Yes, God loves women who have that unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet in spirit. Let’s cultivate the inner beauty in us and clothe ourselves with dignity, dressing modestly not in the ways to entice other men but one’s own husband.

Strong Woman

A woman who is prudent in an outward character is able to carry herself without fear. Strength and excellence are her clothing and she will rejoice in the last day (Prov. 31:25). She is free and stands on her own because she depends greatly in the Lord who springs that enduring forte of a faithful woman.

Meek Woman

Meekness is being calm over situations, having the rest in the soul, tranquility and stillness of the heart that is at rest in Christ Jesus. She is never overwhelmed by worries and dreads because she grips the promises of her Heavenly Father. She’s not nagging because she is a place of peace, of stillness and of Christ’ radiating fragrance.

Compassionate Woman

A compassionate heart is what makes a beautiful soul. She opens her heart and extends her arms to cuddle the needy and the poor. She let them experience the love and care that possibly they’ve never felt before. While a beautiful appearance has a lot of things to take, a beautiful soul has a lot more to offer.

In this day of my exquisite quest as a Christian, I believe that only wisdom from above will make me embrace my flaws, my mess, my limitations and to just focus to be a Proverbs 31 woman!
